Title information for a specific map layer.

govME Home Page

Everyone has access to this part of the mapping layer's metadata.

The title is the "short" version of the description in the next section of the metadata window. Many times it consists of the layer name in the layer menu legend which the user clicks on to get to this window.

The date is the last time the "file" associated with this layer has been updated. For example, if the layer is displaying an ESRI Shape file in the mapping window, then that file's modification date is used here. However, the gMap application utilizes many "Oracle" based layers which are constantly being updated their respective data stewards. The date for these particular layers will always have "today's" date even if they were last updated yesterday or even a week ago. These are what we call our "real-time" mapping layers. For example, when our data steward updates the address layer that change is immediately seen by everyone in the map.
