The Markup tab exposes the user to the tools needed to "markup" the map with customizable map objects.

 

Open Find TabOpen Links TabOpen Trace Tab

Go to Markup ToolsOpen User TabOpen Filter Tab

Open Fav(orites) TabOpen Info TabOpen Weather Tab

 

When the user clicks on the Markup tab the following toolbar will appear. Select the Markup Text button to add your own text to the map.

The left six buttons are "sticky" buttons. When clicked they appear to be pushed in. Only one of these six buttons can be selected at a time. They dictate which markup feature options to display directly below the markup toolbar.

 

Note: Although the markup text option provides the user a way to add text features to the map, these features cannot be saved and re-used later. Once the user closes the mapping application all of the markup text features will be deleted. 

 

After the user selects the markup text button the following input boxes will appear:

 

 

 

Key: 

Any value that uniquely identifies this text feature. 

See Important Note at the bottom of the Erase Selected topic.

Text: 

The actual text to be displayed in the map window.

 


Font: 

The font of the text to be displayed in the map window. Select a font from the drop-down list.

Size: 

The size of the text be displayed in the map window. The kind of measurement is determined by the Unit field.

Unit: 

The measurement used by the size field. Select a unit from the drop-down list; Feet, Inches, Miles, Meters, Centimeters, Kilometers.

Color: 

The color of the text to be displayed in the map window. Select a color from the drop-down list.

Rotation: 

The text rotation angle in degrees.

Vertical Alignment: 

Specifies the vertical placement of the markup text feature in relation to an imaginary horizontal baseline. Select an option from a drop-down list; Bottom, Baseline, Halfline, Capline, Top.

 


Add Text: 

After clicking the "Add Text" button, the cursor in the mapping window becomes a digitized (insertion) pointer. Left-click in the map window to create the insertion point location of the text.

 

Cancel: 

Right-click anywhere in the map window to cancel the add text action.
