Select - Within

You can select all map objects (features) that are within selected polygon map features. The polygons should be on their own layer in order for this command to work effectively.

 

To select map objects/features within other map objects you must first select the polygon map object(s) containing the map objects you want to select. For example, selecting all parcels within the Mixed Use Center named Proctor. Please refer to Toolbar - Select Mode for instructions on how to select map objects.

After you have selected the desired polygon in the mapping window, right-click in the mapping window and choose Select > Select Within from the popup menu.

 

Go to Popup Menu - Pan

Go to Popup Menu - Print

Go to Popup Menu - Zoom

Go to Popup Menu - Bookmarks

Go to Popup Menu - SelectGo to Popup Menu - View

Go to Popup Menu - Help


Go to Select Map ObjectsGo to Select PolygonGo to Select RadiusGo to Select Clear

 

You will then see the Select Within dialog box.

 

 

Choose the map layer containing the map objects you want to select should they fall within the previously selected polygon(s) you selected in the mapping window. For example, the Mixed Use Center named Proctor. Then click OK.

 

You will now see all of the objects selected/highlighted in the mapping window and number count of those objects displayed in the status bar.

 

 

Note: The user specified selection mode may affect the results of the select within process. Please see Selection Mode under Help - Preferences for more on this.
