Zoom - Map Scale

You can specify the map scale to zoom to. Remember that the larger the second number in the scale ratio is, the more you will zoom out, so you will display a larger area with less detail. The smaller the second number is, the more you will zoom in, so you will display a smaller area with more detail.

To zoom to a desired map scale, right-click in the mapping window, and then choose Zoom > Zoom Map Scale from the popup menu.

Go to Popup Menu - Zoom In

Go to Popup Menu - Zoom Selected

Go to Popup Menu - Zoom Out

Go to Popup Menu - UnZoom (Map Extent)

 

You will then see the Zoom Scale dialog box. 

 

 

In the text box, type the scale ratio you want to use. For example, to zoom to a scale of 1:1200, type 1200 in the text box. Then click OK. 

 

The mapping window zooms in or out to the scale you specified, retaining the current center of the map.
