Searching Instructions
For the most accurate results follow these guidelines:
- Supplying an Incident number will do a search that excludes all other filters.
- Always use a start and end date. The default is 7 days.
- If Fixed Object Damage option is "Show only where damage", only incidents with (Fixed Object Damage is not empty) will show.
- The street names recorded for incidents are not standardized fields, therefore all
searches using the street filters will, by default, include wildcards at the front
and back of the entered filter:
Examples:
- Street 1: 6TH will find all incidents with a '6TH' in PrimaryTrafficWay,
CrossStreet, and Location Description. Including '56TH', '16th', etc.
- Street 1: 6TH and Street 2: UNION will find all incidents with the
following combinations:
- '6TH' in PrimaryTrafficWay and 'UNION' in CrossStreet.
- 'UNION' in PrimaryTrafficWay and '6TH' in CrossStreet.
- 'UNION' in CrossStreet and PrimaryTrafficWay is blank, and '6TH' in LocationDescription.
- 'UNION' in PrimaryTrafficWay and CrossStreet is blank, and '6TH' in LocationDescription.
- '6TH' in CrossStreet and PrimaryTrafficWay is blank, and 'UNION' in LocationDescription.
- '6TH' in PrimaryTrafficWay and CrossStreet is blank, and 'UNION' in LocationDescription.
- PrimaryTrafficWay is blank and CrossStreet is blank, and 'UNION' and '6TH' are in
LocationDescription.
- WildCards: To ensure you would only get the numeric street entered use an asterisk
front and back.
Example: *6TH* will filter only for '6TH' not '56TH', or '16TH'.
- You can also place spaces where expected and this will narrow down searches. Example: " C " for "C ST".
- The least amount of characters you use in your street filter the more accurate the
results will be.
For example: '6TH AVENUE' will not find incidents that only have '6TH AVE'
To perform multi street reports, the report needs to be executed for each street,
exported to excel and appended. Currently there is no functionality to choose a
range of blocks on a street.
