The Auto Refresh button is located between the Refresh and Reload buttons in the middle of the top row toolbar.

The Auto Refresh button is a toggle and sticky button. When clicked it appears to be pushed in. It toggles whether or not the auto layer refresh flag is turned on or off.

Auto Refresh On:

When the Auto Refresh is turned on and a user turns on or off a single layer in the Layer Menu then the user automatically puts the mapping window into a busy state. Virtually no activity can be performed until the busy state is completed. Please see Busy State for more information.

Auto Refresh Off:

When Auto Refresh is set to off the user can turn on or off several layers in the Layer Menu and not have to wait for the busy state to complete in between each layer being turned on or off. Therefore, a user can turn on a number of layers and turn off many other layers as fast as the user can click on those layers in the Layer Menu. However, to see these layers turned on or off in the mapping window the user will have to click on the Refresh button.

If a user has certain layers that he/she always turns on or off then that user may want to establish some Favorite Layers.

Note: Whenever a user pans, zooms in or out, all visible layers in the mapping window automatically refresh. In other words, those layers query the server for updated data whether or not the Auto Refresh is on or off.
