If you know the name(s) of the map object(s) you want to select, you can select them from a list.

Note: Click on any of the Popup Menu items below to view specific help for that topic.

You will then see the Select Map Features dialog box.

In the Map Layers list box to the left, select the map layer that contains the map features (objects) you want to select.

In the Map Features list box to the right, select the map features you want by doing one or more of the following:

Click a single map feature. For example, click 747 MARKET ST to select it.
Shift-click to select multiple contiguous features. For example, click 747 BROADWAY STE A, and then Shift-click 747 BROADWAY STE C. Notice that STE A, B, and C are all selected.
Ctrl-click to select multiple non-contiguous features. For example, after selecting 747 MARKET ST, you could Ctrl-click just 747 BROADWAY STE A to add it to the selection without adding other addresses as well. You can also Ctrl-click to deselect individual features from the group of selected features.
Click All to select all features in the list.
You can click clear to deselect all features in the list.

When you finish selecting the map features you want, click OK. All of the objects are then highlighted in the mapping window for you to see where they are located.

Note: This popup feature will only select map objects within the current viewable mapping area. And, it will only select map objects whose layers are visible at the current map scale and turned on in the layer menu

A few reason for wanting to select features this way are:

The object you want to identify in the mapping window is so small for you to visually find.
Once you have the object selected, you can zoom to that selected map object.
If the object is a polygon then you can select other objects within that polygon object.
